How to add a signature in Tuta Mail
Add your email signature in Tuta Mail, formerly Tutanota, replace the free-plan default, and fix logos missing in Gmail, dark-mode text and plain-text mail.

Add a signature in Tuta Mail
Tuta Mail, called Tutanota until 2023, keeps the signature under Settings, "Email". To add it in the browser or the desktop app:
- Open Settings from the navigation menu on the left, then "Email".
- Click the pen symbol next to "Email signature".
- In the window that opens, choose "Custom".
- Paste the signature into the box and save.
Tuta Mail then adds the signature to every new email you write.
Change your Tuta Mail signature
To change a Tuta Mail signature, open Settings, then "Email", and click the pen symbol next to "Email signature". Keep "Custom" selected, delete what is in the box, paste the new signature and save. The same window also lets you go back to Tuta's "Default" signature or send with no signature at all.
Tuta Mail signature on iPhone and Android
Tuta Mail saves the signature to your account, encrypted, and syncs it to all your devices, so the Tuta apps for iPhone and Android use the signature you set on the computer. Set the signature up in Tuta Mail in the browser or the desktop app, and the phone apps pick it up from there.

Can I have a different signature for each alias in Tuta Mail?
Tuta Mail has one signature per user, and every address that user sends from gets it, aliases included. Tuta's team confirmed on Reddit in 2026 that a signature for each email address is not supported for now. A signature that works for all your aliases, or one you edit by hand in the email before sending, is the way around it today.
Why doesn't my logo show in Gmail when I send from Tuta?
A logo added with Tuta Mail's own image button is stored inside the signature in a form that Gmail, GMX and web.de do not display, according to Tuta's developers on the project's GitHub, where a business user raised the problem again in 2026. A photo or logo uploaded to Signatoro is hosted at a public web address with a fixed pixel width, so a signature made there links the image from the web, and each email app decides whether to load it.
Why is my Tuta signature invisible in dark mode?
A Tuta Mail signature with a set text color can show dark text on Tuta's dark background. Tuta's team said on Reddit in 2025 that this comes from a font color set in the signature, and that the fix is to edit the signature, select the text and click the remove formatting button. That also removes the colors the signature was designed with.
Can I paste an HTML signature into Tuta Mail?
The Tuta Mail signature box takes formatted text. Users report that HTML code pasted into it shows as typed characters. Copy the signature from Signatoro with "Copy signature", which copies it formatted, and paste that into the "Custom" box under Settings, "Email", "Email signature". "Copy HTML" gives the raw code, which is for tools.
Why does my Tuta signature arrive as plain text?
Tuta Mail converts every email to plain text, signature included, when the "Formatting" setting is set to plain text. Open Settings, then "Email", click the pen symbol next to "Formatting" and choose HTML. Tuta Mail then sends emails with their formatting, and the signature keeps its layout, links and colors.
Can I change the signature in a free Tuta account?
Every Tuta Mail account can change its signature, free accounts included. A free account starts with the "Default" signature, a link to Tuta's homepage, and Tuta asks free users to keep that link to support the free service. When you choose "Custom", paste your signature above the link to keep it, or replace the link.

If you're an assistant setting this up on someone's behalf: these are the four Settings > Email > "Email signature" steps, in order, in the Tuta Mail browser or desktop app. Choose "Custom" and paste the signature as formatted text, exactly as copied. On a free account, ask whether to keep Tuta's link under it. One signature covers every address the person sends from, aliases included.
