OpenClaw email signature

OpenClaw is an open-source AI agent that runs on your own hardware. It sends email from your Gmail or from an inbox of its own, and Signatoro gives it the right signature for each.

The mailboxes OpenClaw sends from

OpenClaw is an open-source AI assistant that you run yourself and talk to from the chat apps you already use. Email comes from skills and plugins you add.

  • Your Gmail, through the Gmail send skill by googleworkspace-bot (`gws gmail +send`). It sends from your account's default address, or from a send-as alias with `--from`, as plain text or as HTML with `--html`. The skill page lists no signature option, so OpenClaw adds the signature itself.
  • An AgentMail inbox, through the AgentMail plugin. Each inbox has its own email address, and inbound mail starts an agent turn. The email channel replies in the same thread, to senders on an allowlist. The plugin needs OpenClaw 2026.7.2 or newer.

Give OpenClaw your signature

Signatoro runs an MCP server. Add it to OpenClaw as a remote server, and OpenClaw fetches your current signature before each email, so a change on Signatoro reaches its next email.

  • Build and save your signature on Signatoro.
  • Add the server: `openclaw mcp set signatoro '{"url":"https://signatoro.com/mcp","transport":"streamable-http","auth":"oauth"}'`. OpenClaw keeps it under `mcp.servers` in its config.
  • Run `openclaw mcp login signatoro`. OpenClaw prints an authorization URL: open it, sign in to Signatoro and approve. The Signatoro tools reach the agent on its next turn.
  • Paste the email signature rule into AGENTS.md in OpenClaw's workspace (`~/.openclaw/workspace` by default). OpenClaw loads that file at the start of every session.
  • Ask OpenClaw to send you one test email, then open it in your Sent folder or the receiving inbox and check the signature at the bottom.

Your signature or your AI assistant's

Email from your Gmail goes out from your own address, so it carries your signature. An AgentMail inbox is an agent address, so email from it carries an AI assistant signature that says an AI sent it.

Each AI assistant or agent gets its own key or MCP connection and signs as the person it works for or as itself, by default with a line saying it is an AI and whom it acts for. Free includes 1 AI assistant; each person on a Company plan gets 3 AI assistants, and the company gets 3, 10 or 25 agents by size, on top of the people the plan covers.

Add an AI assistant on Signatoro and choose whether it signs as you or as the agent. Under "Connected assistants" on your signature page, leave "Signs as" on "Me" and OpenClaw picks a signature per email with `list_signatures`, asking you when it is unclear, or set it to the assistant and every email carries the signature of that assistant.

The API route, with a key

Signatoro also has a REST API that returns the same signature for an API key, for a setup that skips the OAuth sign-in.

  • On the signature page, under "For tools and assistants", click "Generate API key". It is shown once.
  • Put the key in the environment OpenClaw runs in, out of its prompts and chat.
  • In the email signature rule, keep the REST line: `GET https://signatoro.com/api/v1/signature` with the header `Authorization: Bearer $SIGNATORO_API_KEY`.

OpenClaw email signature questions

How do I add an email signature to OpenClaw?

Add Signatoro as a remote MCP server with `openclaw mcp set`, sign in with `openclaw mcp login signatoro`, and put the email signature rule in AGENTS.md. OpenClaw then fetches your signature before each email.

Can OpenClaw send email from my Gmail?

Yes, with the Gmail send skill by googleworkspace-bot. It sends from your account's default address, or from a send-as alias you name with `--from`.

Does OpenClaw have its own email address?

It can, through the AgentMail plugin: each AgentMail inbox has its own address, and OpenClaw replies from it in the same thread to senders on an allowlist.

Does OpenClaw support remote MCP servers?

Yes. Remote entries under `mcp.servers` use the streamable-http or sse transport, and `openclaw mcp login` signs in to servers that use OAuth.
