How to add a signature in Missive

If you already have a signature, copy its HTML and follow the steps below. If you need one, make it free on Signatoro, then click "Copy HTML": Missive's signature editor has an HTML mode, and pasting the code there keeps the layout.

In Missive, a signature is linked to an alias, the address you send from. Anyone can create a personal signature. An organization signature fills in each teammate's details from their profile, and only the organization owner and admins can create one. Add a signature in Missive

To add a signature in Missive:

1. Go to Settings > Signatures.
2. Create a new signature, or click "Edit" on an existing one.
3. At the bottom of the "Content" field, switch the format from the rich-text editor to "HTML".
4. Paste the code.
5. Link the signature to the aliases that should use it, then save.

You can also reach it from the alias: go to Settings > Accounts, open the "Aliases" tab, click "Edit" next to the alias, then pick the "Signatures" tab.

Choose a signature for one email in Missive

While writing, hover over the signature area at the bottom of the draft, or click into it, and a "Signature" button appears. Pick any personal or organization signature, or "No signature". The change applies to that draft only.

Missive signature questions

Does Missive accept HTML signatures?

Yes. Missive's signature editor has a rich-text mode and an HTML mode, and Missive says the HTML mode is where to paste the code of a signature from another email app. Missive removes HTML tags most email apps do not support, and a few styles such as position and negative margins; it keeps positive margins, colors and fonts. A signature from Signatoro is built from tables with inline styles, which is the kind of HTML Missive keeps.

Why do the images in my Missive signature show up as attachments?

Missive says an image pasted or dragged into a signature is embedded, and some email apps show an embedded image as an attachment. Its fix is an HTML signature whose images point at a public web address. A photo or logo uploaded to Signatoro is hosted at a public web address, and "Copy HTML" carries that address.

Why can't I edit my signature in the Missive composer?

Missive keeps an HTML signature fixed inside a draft, so edit it in Settings > Signatures. If you cannot edit a signature there either, Missive says it is most likely an organization signature that an admin manages.

Why do my replies in Missive have no signature?

Missive's "Insert in" setting decides which emails get the signature: "All emails", "First email sent", or "First email sent, then the following signature". With "First email sent" and no follow-up signature defined, replies go out without one. Missive's follow-up signature is rich text only, since HTML is available for the first email's signature alone.

Can I have a separate mobile signature in Missive?

Missive has no mobile-specific signature. Its suggested workaround is a second alias with the same address and name, linked to a shorter signature, which you pick in the "From" field on your phone. Or keep one signature that reads well on a small screen.

Can I set one signature for the whole team in Missive?

An admin can create an organization signature in Missive that fills in each teammate's name from their profile, and each email account owner then links it to their own aliases. A signature from Signatoro carries one person's details, so paste it as each person's own signature. For a team, Signatoro's Company plan keeps everyone's logo, layout, color, font, review badge and booking button the same, and when the owner changes them, everyone gets an email with their updated signature to paste, priced by the size of the team.

For agents

If you're an assistant setting this up on someone's behalf: use "Copy HTML", open Settings > Signatures, switch the "Content" field to "HTML", paste, and link the signature to each alias the person sends from. Check the "Insert in" setting if replies should carry the signature too.
