How to add a signature in HEY

If you already have a signature, copy its text and follow the steps below. If you need one, make it free on Signatoro, then click "Copy as text".

HEY's signature is called a Name Tag, and HEY says it takes text only, with no images. Only the text of a signature carries over to HEY: your name, title, phone and website.

Add a signature (Name Tag) in HEY

To add a Name Tag for your HEY address:

1. Go to your Account page and click your account.
2. Click "Edit Profile".
3. Turn on the toggle below "Name Tag".
4. Type the text you want people to see under your emails.

To change a HEY Name Tag later, go back to your Account page, click your account, click "Edit Profile" and edit the text below "Name Tag".

Add a Name Tag for an outside address in HEY

In HEY, an outside address you send from (a "send-as" address, such as a Gmail address) has its own Name Tag. To add it:

1. Click your avatar at the top right and select "Accounts & Settings".
2. Click "Forwarding & Sending".
3. Click "Edit" on the address.
4. Click "Edit your contact info". If you do not see it, set the address up as a send-as address first.
5. Turn on "Add a name tag to my emails", type the text, and click "Save changes".

HEY signature questions

Can I add a logo or image to my HEY signature?

No. HEY's Name Tag field takes text only, and HEY's help page says logos and other images cannot be uploaded to it. A HEY signature can carry your name, title, phone number and website as text.

Can I use an HTML signature in HEY?

No. HEY's Name Tag takes plain text only. Type the text lines of an HTML signature, such as your name, title and phone number, into the Name Tag under "Edit Profile". Users report that HEY keeps Name Tags short on purpose, so a full company HTML signature has no equivalent in HEY. Signatoro's "Copy as text" button copies a signature as plain lines (name, role, phone, email and links) for text-only boxes like the HEY Name Tag.

How long can a HEY Name Tag be?

Users report a limit of about 150 characters on a HEY Name Tag. HEY's own help page does not state a number. Keep a HEY Name Tag to your name, your title and one or two ways to reach you, such as a phone number and a website.

Can I have more than one signature in HEY?

HEY allows one Name Tag per address. For other versions of a signature, HEY suggests Snippets: open the HEY menu, choose "Snippets", save each version as a Snippet, and insert the one you want while writing an email.

Why do emails from my Gmail address in HEY have no signature?

In HEY, an outside send-as address, such as a Gmail or work address, needs its own Name Tag, separate from the one on your HEY account. Set it under your avatar > "Accounts & Settings" > "Forwarding & Sending", then "Edit" on the address and "Edit your contact info".

For agents

If you're an assistant setting this up on someone's behalf: HEY's Name Tag is text only, so type the person's name, title and contact lines as plain text. Set it under Account > Edit Profile > Name Tag, and separately for each send-as address under Accounts & Settings > Forwarding & Sending. Tell the person that images and layout are not possible in HEY.
