How to add a signature in AOL Mail

If you already have a signature, copy it and follow the steps below. If you need one, make it free on Signatoro, then click "Copy signature".

Add a signature in AOL Mail

To add a signature in AOL Mail, open AOL Mail in a browser on your computer and follow these steps:

1. Click the "Settings" icon, then "More Settings".
2. Click "Writing email".
3. Under Signature, turn on the toggle next to your username.
4. Paste the signature into the text box.

AOL Mail saves the signature automatically and shows a preview of it on the right of the "Writing email" page.

Change your AOL Mail signature

To change a signature in AOL Mail on the web, click the "Settings" icon, then "More Settings", then "Writing email". Delete what is in the signature text box and paste the new signature; AOL saves it automatically. To stop adding a signature, turn off the toggle next to your username.

Add an image to your AOL Mail signature

If the photo or logo is missing from the AOL Mail signature box after you paste the signature, add it by its web address:

1. On Signatoro, right-click the photo or logo (Control-click on a Mac) and choose "Copy Image Address" or "Copy Image Location".
2. In AOL Mail, click the "Settings" icon, then "More Settings", then "Writing email".
3. Click the "Add an image" icon at the bottom of the signature box.
4. Paste the address into the field and click "Save".

To change the size of an image in an AOL Mail signature, hover over it in the signature box, click the three dots, and pick "Small", "Medium", "Large" or "Original".

AOL Mail signature on iPhone and Android

The AOL app has a signature setting of its own. To set it on an iPhone or iPad:

1. In the AOL app, tap the Profile icon at the top left.
2. Tap "Settings & privacy", then scroll down to General.
3. Tap "Signature" and turn on the slider.
4. Enter your signature.

To set the AOL app signature on Android:

1. In the AOL app, tap the Profile icon at the top left, then "Settings".
2. Scroll down and tap "Signatures".
3. Turn on "Include signature in new messages" and enter your signature.

For a different signature on each account in the Android app, tap "Customize for each account" and pick the account.

AOL's help pages cover typing the signature in the AOL app and are silent on whether the app keeps a pasted signature's formatting or images. Send yourself a test email from the app to see what arrives.

Signatures in AOL Desktop Gold

AOL Desktop Gold keeps up to five signatures of its own. To add one:

1. In AOL Desktop Gold, click "Mail" in the top menu bar, then "Set Mail Signatures".
2. Fill in "Signature Name" and "Signature".
3. Click "Save".

To add a signature to every email in AOL Desktop Gold, open "Set Mail Signatures", pick it in the "Signatures" dropdown, click "Default On/Off" so a blue checkmark appears next to it, and click "Save".

How do I add a logo to my AOL Mail signature?

AOL Mail adds a logo to a signature from the image's web address, using the "Add an image" icon at the bottom of the signature box on the "Writing email" page. AOL needs an address that anyone can open, starting with https:// or http://. A logo uploaded to Signatoro is hosted at a public web address, so it has the kind of address AOL Mail asks for. Why does AOL say "We can't find or access the image at that URL"?

AOL Mail shows "We can't find or access the image at that URL" when it cannot open the image address from the web. Right-click the image on Signatoro and choose "Copy Image Address", or open the image in a new tab and copy the address from the browser's address bar, then paste that. AOL says the new address should be different from the one that failed.

How do I remove "Sent from the all new AOL app" from my emails?

"Sent from the all new AOL app" is the AOL app's default signature. AOL's support team has said on its feedback forum that you can erase it in the app's signature setting. In the AOL app on an iPhone, tap the Profile icon, then "Settings & privacy", then "Signature"; on Android, "Settings", then "Signatures". Replace the line with your own signature.

Why is my AOL signature missing from emails I send from my phone?

The AOL app has a signature setting of its own, apart from AOL Mail on the web, and users report that a signature set in a browser does not carry over to the app. Set it in the AOL app too: tap the Profile icon, then "Settings & privacy" and "Signature" on an iPhone, or "Settings" and "Signatures" on Android.

Can I have more than one signature in AOL?

The logo and photo in a signature from Signatoro load from the web when the email is opened, and many email apps ask before loading images. Until the person you emailed allows images, they see the signature's text and links without the pictures. Nothing needs changing in AOL Mail.

If you're an assistant setting this up on someone's behalf: these are the four "Settings" > "More Settings" > "Writing email" steps, in order, in AOL Mail on the web. Paste the signature as formatted text, exactly as copied. If the photo or logo is missing after the paste, add it with "Add an image" using the image's web address from Signatoro's generator. If the person also sends from the AOL app, set the signature there too and send a test email from the app.
