How to add a signature in Superhuman

If you already have a signature, copy it and follow the steps below. If you need one, make it free on Signatoro, then click "Copy signature".

Where the signature goes in Superhuman depends on the account you use in it. With a Gmail account, Superhuman shows the signature you set in Gmail. With an Outlook account, you paste the signature into Superhuman itself.

Add a signature in Superhuman with a Gmail account

To add a signature in Superhuman for a Gmail account, add it in Gmail:

1. Add the signature in Gmail's settings, as in the Gmail guide, and choose it in both "Signature defaults" menus.
2. Click "Save changes" at the bottom of Gmail's settings page.
3. Wait a few moments, then go back to Superhuman and press Cmd+R on a Mac or Ctrl+R on Windows to refresh it. Quitting and reopening the app also works.
4. Open a new draft in Superhuman and click "..." at the bottom to see the signature.

To change a Gmail signature in Superhuman later, change it in Gmail's settings, click "Save changes", and refresh Superhuman with Cmd+R or Ctrl+R.

Add a signature in Superhuman with an Outlook account

To add a signature in Superhuman for an Outlook account:

1. In Superhuman, press Cmd+K on a Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows and type "Signature".
2. Paste the signature into the box.
3. Open a new draft and click "..." at the bottom to see it.

Turn the Superhuman signature on or off for replies and forwards

In Superhuman, press Cmd+K or Ctrl+K and type "Signature" to choose whether the signature is added to replies and forwards. The setting works for Gmail and Outlook accounts.

Remove "Sent via Superhuman" from your signature

Superhuman adds a "Sent via Superhuman" link to your signature. To remove it on a computer, press Cmd+K or Ctrl+K, type "Signatures", and untick "Include Sent via Superhuman".

To remove it in the Superhuman phone app:

1. Pull down from the top of the inbox, then swipe right to open Superhuman Command.
2. Type "Signatures".
3. Turn off "Include Sent via Superhuman".

Why is my Gmail signature not showing in Superhuman?

Superhuman shows a Gmail signature only after it is saved in Gmail and Superhuman has been refreshed. In Gmail's settings, check that the signature is chosen under both "Signature defaults" menus and click "Save changes". Then press Cmd+R on a Mac or Ctrl+R on Windows in Superhuman. Open a draft and click "..." at the bottom to see the signature.

Why is the logo missing from my Superhuman signature?

For a Gmail account, Superhuman's fix for a missing logo is to delete the image from the signature in Gmail's settings, upload it again, click "Save changes" and refresh Superhuman with Cmd+R or Ctrl+R. For an Outlook account, Superhuman says a signature copied from Outlook on the web keeps its images and links better than one copied from the Outlook desktop app. A signature copied from Signatoro can go straight into Superhuman's "Signature" box, because its photo and logo are hosted at a public web address.

Why does my Superhuman signature have extra spacing?

Superhuman says extra spacing in a signature can come from leftover formatting in the place the signature was copied from. To fix it, delete the whole signature in Gmail's signature settings (Gmail account) or in Superhuman's Cmd+K or Ctrl+K "Signature" box (Outlook account). Then paste it again into the empty box.

Can I have more than one signature in Superhuman?

Superhuman allows one signature. Superhuman's suggested workaround is to delete the signature, save each version as a Snippet, and insert the Snippet you want in each email. For a Gmail account, delete the signature in Gmail's settings; for an Outlook account, delete it under Cmd+K or Ctrl+K "Signatures".

Can I turn off my Superhuman signature on replies from my phone?

The Superhuman phone app has no setting for signatures on replies and forwards. The phone app follows the choice made on a computer: in Superhuman on a Mac or PC, press Cmd+K or Ctrl+K, type "Signature", and set whether the signature goes on replies and forwards.

For agents

If you're an assistant setting this up on someone's behalf: first ask whether the account in Superhuman is Gmail or Outlook. For Gmail, set the signature in Gmail's settings and refresh Superhuman with Cmd+R or Ctrl+R; Superhuman has no box of its own for it. For Outlook, paste into Cmd+K or Ctrl+K > Signature. Paste the signature as formatted text, exactly as copied. Ask before removing "Sent via Superhuman".
