A photographer email signature that books the next shoot

Your headshot and your studio, with the studio's booking button or review badge under every photographer's name and one copyright line for the whole studio.

What to include

  • Name and title, such as Lead Photographer.
  • The studio name, website and a link to your own portfolio.
  • A booking button or review badge for the studio.
  • A copyright line in the Copyright Office's form: ©, the year and the owner.
  • A headshot, so clients recognize who they are emailing.

What the US Copyright Office says about a copyright notice

These are the primary sources, quoted or summarized. Signatoro is not a law firm, and this is not legal advice.

  • Circular 3: a notice has three elements, the © symbol (or "Copyright" or "Copr."), "the year of first publication of the work", and "the name of the copyright owner", as in "© 2017 John Doe". Copyright Office Circular 3
  • Circular 3: "Copyright notice is optional for works published on or after March 1, 1989, unpublished works, and foreign works; however, there are legal benefits for including notice on your work." Copyright Office Circular 3
  • Circular 3: a notice can keep a defendant from relying on an "innocent infringement defense", and using one needs no permission from, or registration with, the Copyright Office. Copyright Office Circular 3

Booking and reviews, under your name

A studio's signatures can carry a Calendly or Cal.com booking button, or a Google Reviews, Trustpilot or G2 badge, built into the layout as live links. The studio sets them once with its name and color, the same on every signature, and each photographer's name, title, headshot and a link of their own, such as their portfolio, are their own. The copyright line is the company footnote, on the Up to 15 plan or larger.

Questions people ask

What should a copyright line in my signature look like?

The Copyright Office gives the three parts: the © symbol, the year of first publication and the owner's name, for example "© 2026 Juniper Lane Photography".

Do I need a copyright notice to own my photos?

No. Circular 3 says notice is optional for works published on or after March 1, 1989, and that including it has legal benefits.

Does a © line in my email signature cover the photos on my site?

Circular 3 describes notice as a statement placed on copies of the work. A © line in an email signature names the owner, and it sits in the email rather than on each photo.

Can clients book a shoot from my signature?

Yes. A Calendly or Cal.com booking button, or a review badge, is part of the signature layout. In a studio, the owner sets it once for every signature, and each photographer can add a link of their own, such as their own calendar or portfolio.

Built into every signature

  • Logo and photo support, hosted so they show without attachments.
  • A review badge (Trustpilot, Google Reviews or G2) or a booking button (Calendly or Cal.com) in the signature.
  • A shared company footer - logo, layout, color, font, review badge and booking button - that every member's signature follows.
