A construction company email signature with your license number on it

Put the contractor license number in the company footnote once, and it is under every owner, project manager and estimator signature, with their own name and phone.

What to include

  • Name, title and a direct phone number for the job site and the office.
  • The company name exactly as licensed.
  • The contractor license number, with the ROC prefix in Arizona, as the company footer.
  • The company website and email.
  • A logo for a company that uses one, the same on every person's signature.

What state rules say about a contractor license number

These are the primary sources, quoted or summarized, for the states with the clearest wording. No rule found names email outright. Signatoro is not a law firm, and this is not legal advice.

  • California, B&P Code 7030.5: every licensee includes the license number in "all construction contracts", "subcontracts and calls for bid", and "all forms of advertising". Cal. B&P Code 7030.5
  • California, 16 CCR 861: advertising for that rule includes "any card, contract proposal, sign" and "any electronic transmission." 16 CCR 861 (Cornell LII copy)
  • Arizona, A.R.S. 32-1124(B): the license number, preceded by "ROC", goes on written bids and estimates and on "all published advertising, letterheads and other documents used by the licensee to correspond with the licensee's customers or potential customers." A.R.S. 32-1124
  • Florida, Statutes 489.119(5)(b): the registration or certification number appears in each offer of services, business proposal, bid, contract or advertisement, "regardless of medium". Business stationery is excluded from "advertisement". Fla. Stat. 489.119
  • Washington, RCW 18.27.100(3)(a): advertising that shows the contractor's name or address shows the current registration number, as do all materials used to directly solicit business from retail customers. RCW 18.27.100
  • Texas, 16 TAC 73.51(e): electrical contractors' advertising designed to solicit electrical business includes the contractor's name and license number, business cards included. 16 TAC 73.51 (Cornell LII copy)

The license number, once for everyone

A contractor license belongs to the company, so it fits the company footnote: on the Up to 15 plan or larger, the owner writes it once on Signatoro and it sits under every signature. When the license is renewed under a new number, everyone gets their updated signature by email to paste, and an AI assistant that sends bids or follow-ups uses it on its next send.

Questions people ask

Does my email signature need my contractor license number?

No state rule checked here names email. Arizona's covers documents used to correspond with customers, California's advertising rule includes electronic transmissions, and Florida's applies regardless of medium. A number on every email fits each of those wordings.

Does every employee need the number, or only the company?

The license, and the duty to show it, belongs to the licensed business in California, Florida and Arizona. A company footnote puts the one number on every employee's signature.

Can I link to my website instead of showing the number?

Arizona allows a link to a website that prominently shows the license number for broadcast, internet and billboard advertising, and not for bids, estimates or letters to customers. Other states checked here have no such option.

What format does the number take?

Arizona requires the "ROC" prefix before the number. Other states ask for the number as it appears on the license.

Is an email signature "stationery" in Florida?

Florida excludes business stationery from its advertising rule, while the board rule covers electronic media. Neither text settles where an email signature falls.

Built into every signature

  • A compliance footnote the owner writes once, shown under every member's signature.
  • A shared company footer - logo, layout, color, font, review badge and booking button - that every member's signature follows.
  • Logo and photo support, hosted so they show without attachments.
