# How to add an email signature in HubSpot

How to add your email signature to emails sent from the HubSpot CRM, and to workflow emails sent for each contact's owner, with an HTML signature from Signatoro.

If you already have a signature, copy it and follow the steps below. If you need one, make it free on [Signatoro](https://signatoro.com/), then click "HTML" > "Copy HTML".

HubSpot keeps one email signature per user, and adds it to the emails you send from the CRM. Emails a workflow sends are marketing emails, which add no signature until you place one with a token, below.

## Add an email signature in the HubSpot CRM

1. Click the settings icon in the main navigation bar.
2. In the left sidebar, go to General, then the Email tab.
3. In the Configure section, click "Edit email signature".
4. Click "HTML" and paste the HTML you copied from Signatoro.
5. Save, then send yourself an email from a contact record to check it.

HubSpot warns that email clients render custom HTML differently, so check the test email in the mail apps your contacts use. Several signatures per user need a Sales Hub Professional or Enterprise seat; one signature works on every plan.

## Add the owner's signature to workflow emails

A workflow's "Send email" action sends a marketing email, which carries no personal signature on its own, a gap HubSpot users raise in [HubSpot's community](https://community.hubspot.com/t5/Email-Marketing-Tool/Workflow-From-Address-amp-Signature/m-p/880221). To sign it as the contact's owner:

1. In the marketing email's editor, click "Personalize".
2. Choose Contact owner > Signature, and click "Insert".
3. Set a default for contacts with no owner: a default user, or fallback text.
4. Send a test as a specific contact. A test sent without a contact shows no signature.

The token reads each owner's CRM signature from the section above, so every owner pastes their own Signatoro signature there first.

## HubSpot signature questions

### Does my HubSpot signature update when I change it on Signatoro?

No. HubSpot keeps its own copy of the signature and offers no way for another app to change it, so after a change on Signatoro, copy the HTML again and paste it over the old one. Workflow emails that use the Contact owner > Signature token pick up the new version from then on.

### Which signature does a team inbox use?

A signature set on a team inbox in HubSpot replaces each person's own signature for emails sent from that inbox.

### Do sequence emails include my signature?

HubSpot's sequences article does not describe signatures. Enroll a test contact in the sequence and check the first email before you rely on it.
